Submitting stories

Hunter Business Review is always happy to consider story submissions from businesses based or active in the Hunter Region.

Prepared media releases are fine, however, these are not essential. It is the information we are after. So even some bullet points will normally suffice.

General stories

Stories must contain some news of interest to the business community. Perhaps you have had a major win, expanded, released a new product/service, relocated or have some other news that you think the readers would find of interest.

Recent senior appointment

Appointment stories are also of interest. We just require some basic information – short information on the appointee, their experience, how the position fits into business plans etc. A photograph is also preferred if available.

By-lined articles

These can also be considered. This are slightly longer articles, credited to an author and covering tips, market trends, technology or some other issue of interest to local businesspeople. They need to be general in nature, not direct publicity pieces for your business. They do however have definite marketing value, helping to raise the profile and perceived expertise of the author and business. If you have something already prepared, it can be sent in. If you are considering writing an article specially for the Hunter Business Review it is best to discuss this with Garry Hardie first. We don’t want you spending your valuable time preparing a story that cannot be used!

Opinion pieces

Opinion peices can also be accommodated and can be valuable in raising the profile of important business-related issues. We don’t mind if they “stir the pot”, however, the author must take legal responsibility for their story.

Suggestions

We always welcome suggestions. Perhaps there is something you believe that we should be covering, but you may not be able to supply the material. We would be glad to hear from you.

Editorial policy

All submissions are subject to editorial control. Their inclusion is not guaranteed and they may be subject to subediting for reason of size and style consistency.

Submissions are best supplied in Word format for the text, with images supplied as high resolution jpgs. To submit a story click here.
